Lithgow Library donation drive

AUGUSTA — All through January, the Lithgow Library, 45 Winthrop St., will be waiving overdue fines when folks bring in food or toiletries for the donation drive. All donations will be delivered at the end of the month to the Augusta Food Bank and Bridging the Gap’s Everyday Basics Essentials Pantry.

There is a great need for basic food and toiletries. The library will gratefully accept any non-perishable food item or unopened toiletries, but the following items are especially needed at the pantry: toilet paper, powdered laundry detergent, full size bottles of shampoo, full size bars of soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes, diapers (sizes 4-6), baby wipes, tampons and sanitary napkins. The food bank needs peanut butter, baked beans, juice boxes and canned fruit.

Bring donations to the circulation desk. Donations will be accepted during regular library hours: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. The library will be closed on Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day and Jan. 21 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
