LONG BEACH, N.Y. — The L/A Nordiques opened the new year with an 8-3 victory over the Long Beach Sharks on Friday night, snapping a two-game losing streak at the NA3HL Showcase to end 2018.
Mike Keller paced the Nordiques offense with two goals and two assists, and Crewz Berry also potted a pair of goals. Sergei Anisimov had a goal and two helpers.
L/A goalie Jason St. Pierre made eight saves for the victory.
Long Beach jumped out to a 1-0 when Samuel Willis scored at the 3:53 mark.
Donovan Tehan and Kyle Secor found the back of the net to give the Nordiques a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.
It was a quiet first 15 minutes of the second period, but Long Beach’s Noah Carlock tied the game up at 2-2 with 4:16 remaining in the frame. Keller, who assisted on Tehan’s goal, put the Nordiques back up top with 2:55 remaining in the second.
Keller added his second tally of the night 26 seconds into the third period. Anisimov added another insurance goal for the Nordiques at the 7:37 mark of the final frame.
Berry added his two goals in the third period. Connor Kennedy also scored for the Nordiques in the third.
Cade Lambdin added his 20th goal of the year for the Sharks’ final tally of the contest.
Darren Nathan made 41 saves for the Sharks.
The same two teams meet again Saturday afternoon.
