Novel Idea Book Club to meet
PARIS — On Tuesday, January 15th at 6:30, Paris Public Library’s Novel Idea Book Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, to discuss “The Seventh Wish,” a juvenile fiction selection, authored by award winning children’s author and middle school teacher, Kate Messner.
Free books donated by OHills Reads are available at the library.
Adapted from Goodreads: Charlie, a middle school student who loves and competes in Irish dancing, feels like she’s always coming in last. From her mom’s new job to her sister’s life at college, everything seems more important than Charlie. One day while ice fishing, Charlie makes a discovery that will change everything … a caught fish that offers to grant her a wish in exchange for its freedom. Charlie can’t believe her luck but soon realizes, “Be careful for what you wish for, for it may come true.” Throughout the book, Charlie catches and releases the magic fish seven times. One day, her family faces a complicated, heartbreaking challenge. Is this challenge too important for Charlie to rely on a wish to a fish?
The Seventh Wish is a page turner that offers fantasy and realism at the same time, a lovable and kind main character, Charlie, and remarkably, a family in crisis who handles it with love.
New members are always welcome. Light refreshments will be available.
