DEAR SUN SPOTS: Once again, AARP Tax-Aide will be providing free income tax preparation services for low/moderate-income taxpayers for the 2019 filing season. Three days per week from Feb. 1 through April 14, our experienced IRS certified tax volunteers will be preparing and electronically filing federal and Maine income tax returns. We will be working out of Sacred Heart Church at Minot and Western avenues in Auburn. This service is by appointment only and all ages are welcome. You do not have to be a member of AARP to use this service. Appointments may be made by calling 207-513-3170 and leaving a message on our voicemail. Our appointment line opens Jan. 16. You will be contacted by our scheduler to set up a time for your tax preparation. Please spread the word!

ANSWER: I have successfully used this free service and it’s a great thing! Please take advantage of it if you can.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Regarding the Jan. 4 Sun Spots about transportation to the Jetport, I need to go to Western Avenue in South Portland on a weekday (it doesn’t matter which one) sometime in the next two to three weeks to pick up some tickets for a Portland show. Depending on their day of travel, I may be able to help the couple in Auburn looking for a ride. They can reach me at 207-375-8105.

ANSWER: I love my readers; you are the best! I hope this works out for everyone. Another idea is below.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Concord Coach bus station near Park and Ride at Exit 75 has a daily schedule to and from the Portland Transportation Center. You can get a city bus from there or a cab to the Jetport. There is Uber available in L-A, too, but usually more drivers are around when Bates College is in session.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am writing in response to Susan’s letter in the Jan. 3 Sun Spots about chapped lips. I raised four children who all had that same problem, especially in the winter. The only thing I found that worked almost overnight was Eucerin cream. I still use it every winter, because not only my lips get chapped, but the skin around my mouth gets extremely dry and painful. I put it on liberally before bed and also use a thin coating throughout the day. Be sure to buy the cream and not the lotion. If you buy the store brand it works just as well. I hope this helps.
