MONMOUTH — The Monmouth Community Players will present “When Radio Was King,” a trip into the 1950s for a live radio show.
The third annual production, directed by Josie French of Lewiston, will be staged Feb. 15-17, at the historic Cumston Hall.
The audience can expect to see an authentic old-time radio show, complete with old vaudeville comedy routines, sketches and commercials, including sound effects. Sketches of “Lone Ranger,” “Dragnet” and “5 Minute Mystery” will be presented.
The cast is a mixture of vocal and comedic talent who range in age from 13 to 70-plus. They include: Andy Tolman and Elaine Katz of Readfield; Gregor Smith of Belgrade; Ginger Smith, Cindy Dunham, Amy Griswold and Peggy O’Kane of Winthrop; Josie French, Jeff Fairfield and Nancy Keneally of Lewiston; Brittany Bazinet, Dan Allard, Shane Stevens and Meredith Stevens of Greene; and David Marshall, Karen Lipovsky, Danny Gay and Megan Record of Monmouth.
The show will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 15 and 16, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17.
