The Stanton Bird Club of Lewiston and Auburn has announced the February event schedule. All events are free and open to the public.

Sunday, Feb. 3, Lewiston, 2 to 4 p.m. The club will host an open house at L/A Arts Gallery, 221 Lisbon St. Images of Maine birds by a local artist, Dan Cake, will be on display. The exhibit of paintings, drawings and prints is part of the club’s 100th anniversary. There will be social time and music from 2 to 2:30 p.m.; a looking at some of the early founders of the club from 2:30 to 3 p.m.; social time with jazz guitar by John Smedley, food and door prizes from 3 to 4 p.m. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP at stantonbirdclub@gmail.com or call Jeri Maurer at 207-524-2060.

Sunday, Feb. 10, Lewiston, 1 p.m. The Centennial Walk at Thorncrag, titled “Winter Twigs Tell A Story,” will be led by Leigh MacMillan Hayes, Maine master naturalist and Greater Lovell Land Trust education director. Saturday, Feb. 16, Monmouth, 8 to 11 a.m. Winter Tracking at Woodbury Nature Sanctuary led by Steve Reed. Walk trails to discover tracks left by animals such as porcupine, coyote, white-tailed deer, bobcat, fisher, moose and short-tailed weasel. Dress warmly and bring snowshoes or winter boots. Meet at 8 a.m. at the Promenade Mall, 855 Lisbon St., Lewiston. Participants may also meet at the Carver Road entrance to the sanctuary at 8:30 a.m. From Lewiston, take Route 126 north to Monmouth and turn left on Carver Road (dirt) which immediately crosses the power line corridor. Saturday, Feb. 16, Lewiston, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The club will hold the Family Friendly Snowshoe Trek at Thorncrag. Three groups will snowshoe based on skill level and preferences. Meet at the Thorncrag parking lot off Montello Street at 10 a.m. All walks will end at the Kate Anthony Fireplace for hot cocoa and roasted marshmallows. The Stanton Bird Club manages the Thorncrag Nature Sanctuary and the Woodbury Nature Sanctuary in Monmouth and Litchfield. It seeks to encourage the enjoyment and protection of the natural surroundings.
