Low cost spay/neuter for dogs and cats

TOPSHAM — The Community Spay-Neuter Clinic, 321 Lewiston Road, is a veterinary clinic that provides subsidized spay/neuter surgery for pet owners who cannot afford regular veterinary rates.

In addition to services at our clinic in Topsham, we often have mobile clinics and transports in various locations. We accept vouchers from many area shelters and organizations, and sometimes have grant programs to offer lower prices than usual to people who qualify for additional assistance.

Our office staff are knowledgeable about the many resources for low cost spay/neuter around the state.

PARIS — Responsible Pet Care, 9 Swallow Road, is looking for volunteers to work in the thrift shop helping customers cash out. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday or Friday, or any part of the day. Call the shelter for details.

Children under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult. All volunteers must complete a volunteer application and release form as well as attend required training before volunteering at the shelter. Interested folks can download the application and return it to RPC.

Responsible Pet Care of Oxford Hills provides a safe and comfortable environment for dogs and cats from Oxford County that have become lost or have been abandoned.

This is a no-kill, non-profit shelter. All of the cats and kittens in our care need permanent homes and are available for adoption. Many of the dogs will be reunited with their owners; but some will require new homes.

They have recently partnered with Defensa Animal de Rincon in Puerto Rico and Villalobos Rescue Center in New Orleans to take dogs from these agencies when space is available here.

For more information about volunteering, call 207 743-8679 or visit www.responsiblepetcare.org.
