The men’s League of Service at the High Street M E church in Auburn held an important and largely attended meeting Wednesday evening. Speakers for the evening were Charles E. Westervelt of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce and Corp. H.R. Dean, 76th Division, recently released from service. George H. Bower presided.
50 years ago: 1969
The dust will start to fly in the Great Falls Urban Renewal Area very shortly, Director Lewis Bone said today. The demolition work is expected to start around the end of February, or the beginning of March. Acquired is the huge Lennox Apartment complex at the intersection of Turner and Franklin streets. Bone said some site preparation will get underway soon. This will involve bringing in gravel and fill, drainage systems and underground public utility facilities.
25 years ago: 1994
Sister Gilberte Boisvert will be the guest speaker at a meeting of the Fourth Degree Wives of the Knights of Columbus Wallace Assembly on Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. at the KC Hall. Gilberte is a member of the Presentation of Mary, having taught at Holy Cross School. She is currently coordinator of the soup kitchen for the St. Martin de Porress Residence.
