TURNER — Sophomore guard Emily Strachan produced a game-high 17 points as Lewiston nabbed a 47-27 victory over Leavitt in girls’ basketball action Thursday evening.
The Hornets (5-13) started out with an 8-0 run before the Blue Devils (4-14) turned on the pressure. Lauren and Madeline Foster posted eight points each for Lewiston.
Junior guard Alison Noniweicz sank a pair of 3-pointers and led Leavitt with eight points in the losing effort.
Dirigo 49, Madison 27
DIXFIELD — Alyssa McTyre and Alexa Varnum registered 11 points apiece as Dirigo concluded its season with a 49-27 girls’ basketball victory over Madison on Thursday.
The Cougars (5-13) came out strong with a 17-10 first quarter and ended on a 16-7 run in the fourth quarter. Ashley Perreault, Lillie Williams and Page Lueders scored six points each for Dirigo.
Katie Worten led the Bulldogs (5-13) with seven points.
Boys’ basketball
Leavitt 81, Lewiston 45
LEWISTON — Sophomore guard Wyatt Hathaway scored 31 points to lead Leavitt to an 81-45 victory over Lewiston in boys’ basketball action Thursday evening.
Hathaway hit five 3-pointers in the second quarter to put the Hornets (15-3) up 44-25 at the midpoint. Leavitt senior forward Joziah Learned contributed a pair of two-point field goals, a pair of 3s and four from the foul line for 14 points.
Senior forward Yasin Mohamud paced the Blue Devils (3-15) with 10 points on five field goals in the losing effort.
Cape Elizabeth 56, Poland 32
CAPE ELIZABETH — Nathan Mullen and Andrew Hartel scored 14 points apiece as the Capers (11-7) cruised to a 35-16 halftime lead over the Knights (5-13) on Thursday.
Quinn Morse helped with seven points.
Andrew Frechette paced Poland with nine points.
Freeport 63, Gray-New Gloucester 52
GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER — Gabe Wagner scored 20 points, Toby Holt had 19 and the Falcons (12-6) used a 21-6 advantage in the third quarter after trailing by three at halftime to get past the Patriots (12-6) on Thursday.
Nicklaus Pelletier scored 12 points, and Zack Pomerleau and Colby Hunter each had 11 for Gray-New Gloucester.
Boys’ hockey
Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse 7, Lake Region/Fryeburg/Oxford Hills 4
BRIDGTON — Noah Austin factored in every goal for for Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse/Hyde in a 7-4 boys’ hockey victory over Lake Region/Fryeburg/Oxford Hills on Thursday night.
Austin tallied seven points, a new career high for a single game, with a hat trick and four assists.
Ian Struck also had a hat trick for the Eagles (8-7-1), while Alex Witwicki chipped in with a goal and two assists. Sean Moore made 20 saves in the win.
Ed Thurston scored a pair for the Ice Cats (2-10), who also got a goal and an assist apiece from Colby Turcotte and Will Galligan. Graham Payne stopped 27 shots in goal.
Unified basketball
Hall-Dale/Richmond 74, Winthrop 62
WINTHROP — James Gioia scored 20 points to help Hall-Dale/Richmond pick up the win over the Ramblers on Thursday.
Zach Sanborn and Emma Chase had 14 apiece for the victors, and Xavian Tobias scored 10.
Lukas Thompson scored 22 points points for Winthrop, while Trevor Martel had 14 and Sarah McConnell added 12.
