Annual Winterpaloozah! in Rangeley

RANGELEY — The fourth annual Winterpaloozah! will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at Haley Pond Park and Rangeley Town Park.

It is a free family event.

Activities include horse-and-wagon rides, ice skating, saucer bowling, pond hockey, curling, snow golf, fat tire bikes, kicksleds, snow kiting, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, a snow castle, campfire and marshmallow roast and hot chocolate.

Pay-for-entry competitions include Dog Keg Pull, Cardboard Sled Race, Firewood Toss, “Paloozah” Carry, a twist on the wife carrying event, Fat Tire Bike Race and the Paloozathon for showshoers, fat bike riders and runners. Prizes will be awarded.

Hot lunch will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Haley Pond Park.

Church meeting rescheduled

PHILLIPS — Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Phillips Community Church annual meeting has been rescheduled for noon Sunday, Feb. 17, at the Community House, 31 Main St.

There will be a buffet dinner. All are welcome.

Novel Idea Book Club to meet

PARIS — Paris Public Library’s Novel Idea Book Club will discuss “The Little House Cookbook: Frontier Foods from Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Classic Stories” by Barbara M. Walker at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19.

The author of the “Little House” books, Laura Ingalls Wilder, was born in Wisconsin in 1867 and wrote her first book, “Little House in the Big Woods,” when she was 65.

Participants will read parts of the cookbook that intrigue them and make a recipe from the book to share with the group. “The Little House Cookbook” shares unique recipes and is replete with information related to frontier life in the mid-1800s to early 1900s. New members are welcome.

Library to host Chewonki presentation

NEW VINEYARD — The Chewonki Traveling Natural History Program will present “Tide Pools” from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the New Vineyard Public Library, 20 Lake St.

The presentation will be about tide pools, home to a variety of species whose adaptations allow them to maintain stability in a world that is changing constantly. The presentation will use an interactive traveling display to help with the planned activities. The event is open to the public.

Legion to hold dime bingo

DIXFIELD — The American Legion Post 100 has changednickel bingo to dime bingo from 6 to 9 p.m. every Monday and Friday.
