LEWISTON – Mary C. Bird, 97, of Lewiston passed away on Feb. 11, 2019, at d’Youville Pavilion. She was born on March 8, 1922, the daughter of Patrick and Margaret Madden Clabby. Mary was educated locally. Mary moved to Washington D.C. in 1948, where she became a radiologic technician, meet and married her husband, William Bird. While living in D.C., she was an active member of Precious Blood Catholic Church and of the Altar Guild. She then retired after being a lifelong radiologist in 1988. Upon Mary’s return to Maine in 2008 she joined her sisters and became an active member of Prince of Peace. Survivors include; a brother, John Clabby of Lewiston; two sisters, Theresa Card of Lewiston, and Patricia Kelley of Turner; along with numerous nieces and nephews; one stepdaughter, Virginia of Virginia. Besides her parents she was predeceased by four sisters, two brothers, and her husband, William Bird. Visitation will be held at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home, 253 Pine St., Lewiston, Maine, on Monday, Feb. 18, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019, 11 a.m., at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul Chapel.
