AUBURN – On Feb. 14, 2019, Heaven greeted another person that we loved. Leo Marcel Roger David, 74, left the place that he called his “second” home, Panolam Industries, aka, “Pioneer Plastics” in Auburn for a Heavenly home. And just knowing that after having been employed there 53 years and to pass away there, would have brought a huge smile to his face.Born in Auburn on Jan. 31, 1945, the eldest son of Wilfred Gideon David and Gaetane Vachon David. Leo is sad to leave behind his loving wife, Martha Stevens-David of Minot, Martha’s two children, Lalain and Peter, and grandchild Peyton. Leo had three siblings; two sisters, Irene Thibault of Orr’s Island and Jeanne David of Lewiston; one younger brother, Normand David and his wife, Deborah, of Otisfield, Maine. Leo is also survived by his children, Peter, Jody, Thomas, Jeff and William, several grandchildren and many much loved nieces and nephews.It can be said that Leo was a “focused” man and his true focus was on his position at Panolam Industries. His position was always a challenge due to the demanding hours needed to do his best and he was never one to slide work responsibilities aside. In all his years at Panolam, he seldom took a vacation, he wasn’t that kind of man, his heart and soul belonged to his job. When others learned that he went to bed each night at 5 p.m., and got up every day at 2 a.m., and reported for work at 4 a.m., they just couldn’t believe it. He was proud to say that he generally worked twelve hour days throughout the years with no complaints from him. He had an inborn work ethic that others just couldn’t image. Just a thought, Heaven’s going to be in a lot of trouble if they don’t find a job for Leo to do!Leo was a man of keen intellect and he could converse with intelligence and humor with people of all educational levels. There wasn’t too much that he wasn’t interested in and he had a way of looking at you with his bright blue eyes that made you feel you were the most important person on earth. Leo, just know that so many members of your family, co-workers, neighbors and friends have reached out to your saddened wife, Martha, and your family and co-workers, offering love and assistance in any way needed, that you will not have to worry about her well-being.
