NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine has released their March events.
Two survivorship programs are offered for those impacted by cancer and their caregiver:
• Swimming Passes are available through the CRCWM partnership with the Hampton Inn, 151 Main St., Oxford. This pass is for one month of unlimited swimming in a salt water pool for cancer survivors who have been out of treatment for six months and up to five years. Caregivers are also eligible for a one-month pass.
• The Caring Coupon Program is for cancer patients currently in treatment and up to six months after finishing treatment. Survivors may receive four coupons and their caregiver may receive two coupons, which they use for their choice of sessions of reiki, massage, reflexology or therapeutic yoga from a list of approved wellness providers. The providers on the list have gone through an interview process by the CRCWM and are reimbursed by the center for their services.

Classes scheduled for March:
Yoga Warriors — 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, March 6, 13, 20 and 27, at Posabilities, 15 Tannery St. This free gentle yoga class will support healthy living for individuals facing the challenges of cancer through gentle movement and breath, supportive restorative yoga postures, and guided meditation and relaxation. Banding Together To Restore exercise class — 9 to 10 a.m. Thursdays, March 7, 14, 21 and 28, at Richard Bader Physical Therapy, 176 Main St. In this class the focus is on regaining motion and strength through guided instruction using stretching and colored elastic exercise bands. Lori Britting will lead, encouraging participants to work within their ability to safely obtain their desired goals which could include improving energy and the ability to move easier while carrying out daily tasks and enjoying life. Yoga for Wellness — Kat Larsen will teach the class at the center, dates and times to be announced on the Facebook page, crcofwm.org or folks can call 207-890-0329. Class focuses on breathing, movement and relaxing meditation while seated or standing.
Self-Reflexology — 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 8, at the center. Karen Tibbetts will demonstrate how applying pressure to reflex points may help improve circulation and reduce body stress.
Beading Project — 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at Lively Accents, 310 Main St. Cathy will have beding projects ready for participants to make.
Ukulele Group — 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 1. Bring a ukulele and join the group for singing and music. For those who don’t know how to play, there will be extra ukuleles available for learning.
Drum Circle — Beginners from 10 a.m. to noon, advanced from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 2, at Deering Memorial Community Center, 39 Main St., South Paris. All drums are welcome. Bring a friend or caregiver, drums are available to borrow. At noon there will be a potluck lunch; bring a dish if desired. Participants may stop in at any time and stay as long as they want. Wellness Share — 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Deering Memorial Community Center, 39 Main St., South Paris. Everyone is welcome for an introduction to reiki practice and self-care. Massage, reflexology and polarity will also be available. There will be a potluck lunch at noon; bring a dish if desired. Participants may stop in at any time and stay as long as they want. The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine is at 199 Main St. in the Stephens Memorial Hospital Specialty Clinic building. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays. The center offers a variety of programs as well as comfort items, free to anyone impacted by cancer.
