OXFORD — The Board of Selectmen met last week with MBP Consulting to review a preliminary design to repair the east sluice of the Thompson Lake Dam.

In a workshop prior to the board’s regular meeting on February 21, selectmen listened to recommendations from the Portland based consulting firm to repair the dam.

The proposal includes using an electronically operated steel gate, a concrete face overlay and a stop log guide plus performing a survey upstream to verify project features, gate size and provide input to a contractor for development and an approach to the project.

The dam is located by the Robinson Mill off King Street.

The additional land and building value is to be combined with the new owner’s property which already received a tax bill with both land and buildings values

The board has been discussing the unusually number of abatement requests in recent months, and Town Manager Butch Asselin said he is looking into possibly combining assessing services with another town.
