MEXICO – Mr. David L. Martin Sr., 78, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, at his residence on the Poplar Hill Road in Mexico.Born in Rumford, Maine, on Jan. 14, 1941, he was the son of Louis and Ida (Bissonette) Martin. He attended Rumford Schools and served in the U.S. Navy. David worked for 40 years at the Boise Cascade Paper Mill in the Machine Shop.He was a member of Rumford Falls Aerie #1248, FOE, LaParesseux Snowshoe Club, AMVETS of Jay and was a Communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior St Athanasius St John Church in Rumford. David could often be found tinkering outside or in his garage.David was married in Mexico, Maine on July 17, 1999, to Wendy Wilson who survives of Mexico. Other survivors include two sons, David and his wife, Libby, of Peru, and Robert and his wife, Mary, of Peru; a brother, John “Petou” Martin and his wife, Paula, of Rumford, six grandchildren, Tanya, Keenan, Kaiya, Jean-Luc, Preston, Baylee; stepdaughter, Curena Turner and husband, Scott, of Norway; and two stepgrandchildren, Layla and Lucas. He was predeceased by his parents; a son, Louis; three sisters, Joan Girard, Louise “Skippy” Freeman and Elaine Boatwright.Friends and family are invited to sign the online guest book and share memories with the family at www.meaderandson.com.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Tuesday March 5, 2019, at the Parish of the Holy Savior St. Athanasius St. John Church. Interment in the spring will be in St John Cemetery in Rumford. Arrangements are under the direction of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford, Maine.
