There is a buzz in the air, no, not mosquitos but the energy as the Fall 1 session starts after Labor Day.
Something for all ages and interests will be taking place not just at The Y but even around town. Our Back to School Bash on September 13 allows for grades 5-8 experiencing different aspects of The Y and hanging out with friends as they get reacquainted for school. We have special events like Parents Night Out where kids in grades K-6 have activities from 7-10 p.m. while mom and dad enjoy some whatever time on September 20. We will celebrate with the greater Old Town area and be part of Riverfest with bounce houses, a 5K and the first annual Cornhole Tournament as well as demonstrations during festivities. You should register early for the 5K and Cornhole tournament by calling the Y at 827-9622.
To enable youth to be active soccer, football, swimming, cheering, gymnastics and basketball will have programs starting after Labor Day. Group Exercise for the more mature folks to maintain muscular strength is available through Aqua Classes, Silver Sneakers, Pickleball or walking on the indoor track. Also continuing throughout the year will be Tae Kwon Do, Child Care and Afterschool programs.
To help you reach your wellness goals wherever you are, your Y Membership allows you access to participating Y’s throughout the United States. Our Member Spotlight this month is on Marion, who has been a member for five years. She joined The Y after finding out she was a candidate for hip surgery and needed to lose weight. She joined our aquatic group exercise classes and committed to three classes a week. Because of her commitment and hard work she was able to lose weight and had a successful surgery. Marion continues to inspire everyone at The Y by continuing to stay active and maintain a positive attitude.
We hope to see you soon and if you have any questions or concerns buzz on over to The Y or call us at 827-9622.
