NEWRY — Eight staff members at Sunday River Resort have COVID-19, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
The ski are remains open for skiing and riding.
The CDC began investigating an outbreak at Sunday River in December. That outbreak includes 31 cases.
A Sunday River spokeswoman said the resort believes these new cases are not part of that outbreak and are isolated incidents from community transmission.
Sunday River has 1,100 staff members.
The eight who recently tested positive are in isolation, according to Sunday River, and anyone who was believed to be in close contact has been notified.

The Maine CDC announced today that Schooner Memory Care in Auburn is also dealing with an outbreak. According to the CDC, five people there have tested positive.
