NO. LIVERMORE — At the North Livermore Baptist Church Feb. 7 service the congregation was welcome in by Pastor Bonnie Higgins at 9:30 a.m. to begin the service.

The Call to Worship was read and the Invocation/Lord’s Prayer was recited. The hymns that were sung was “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms”, “Jesus Loves Even Me”, and “Let Us Break Bread Together” and Communion to complete the service. “Blest Be the Tie that Binds” was played as we left the service.

The sermon, titled “Trusting God and Letting Go” reading the scripture from Luke 22:42. Pastor Bonnie began explaining that verse was spoken by Jesus to His Father God the night he was arrested and eventually died on a cross. Jesus spoke those words, thy will be done, but those words we should be saying too every day to God in our lives. Too many times we pray for a situation and we expect God to answer them the way we want them to be, not the way God has already planned the answer. It is hard for us to pray for God to have His way in our lives when we want to control our own lives. We want to control our destiny. We sometimes forget that God is in control and that He sees the bigger picture than we do. We need to humble ourselves and to trust God for His answers and not by pass God to do what we want to do. Giving up our lives for God, means that we need to embrace the words “thy will be done” and trust God during the hard times in our lives. God has never left us, forsaken us, or forgotten us. We need to stop doubting that God can do all things if we allow Him to.

Pastor Bonnie went on and said that God’s care for His children is just like the sun, it is constant. Sometimes the clouds will cover it, but the sun is always there above the clouds. We need to trust God’s steadfast love for each of His children. One way to trust in Him fully is to let Him have His way in our lives. By trusting in God’s ability to take care of us, we can rejoice in everything He blesses us with. God has promised us a lot in His Word, if we believe that and we should, why shouldn’t we trust Him with our lives. God did create us, just the way He wanted us to be.

In order to let go and trust Him, we need to let go of our pride, our guilt, our fear, and our worries, so we can let Him have His way with us. We call upon God many times when we are hurting to fix our problems, yet we have a hard time letting go of the problem. Letting go means that we trust Him, letting His will be done. We don’t need to struggle if we are a child of God, we just need to let go of the worldly problems and focus on the future we have with Him.

Announcements listed in the bulletin was that the congregation will be collecting canned fruit for the food pantry in February. An Advisory Board meeting will meet after church services. The AA meetings are held on Friday nights at the church.
