University of Maine Cooperative Extension 4-H will launch a new club for youth in grades 3 through 5 about the science of sustainable fisheries that will meet online from 3 to 4 p.m. Mondays, Feb. 22 through April 12.
The 4-H Sustainable Fisheries Club will include learning about popular fish species in Maine, where they are found, fish DNA and hands-on science exploration. Internet access is required to participate. The club is hosted in partnership with Maine EPSCoR and the Maine-eDNA project, according to a news release from the extension office based in Orono.
There is no cost to enroll; all materials will be provided. To register on the UMaine Extension 4-H club webpage by Monday, Feb. 15, visit extension.umaine.edu. Enrollment is limited to 12 members.
