JAY — In a preview of an upcoming playoff game, the Spruce Mountain boys basketball team turned an eight-point lead after three quarters into a 22-point victory, 59-37, over Hall-Dale on Monday.

Camden Phillips scored 10 of his 20 points in the final period, during which Spruce Mountain outscored Hall-Dale 20-6.

Phillips hit three 3-pointers in the game. Ian York and Owen Bryant added seven points apiece for the Phoenix, while Bradley Shamba and Lorne Grondin each contributed six points.

TJ Wilson drilled four 3s and led the Bulldogs with 16 points. Carter Bourque scored eight.

Hall-Dale, as the No. 4 seed, will host No. 5 Spruce Mountain on Friday at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the central Maine basketball tournament.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 64, LAKE REGION 51: Jay Hawkes hit three 3-pointers and finished with 25 points as the Patriots (2-2) beat the Lakers (1-5) with a strong fourth quarter in Naples.

Gray-New Gloucester entered the final period trailing 43-41, then outscored the Lakers 23-8.

Terell Claxton put up 10 points for Gray-NG.

Evan Willey posted 18 points for Lake Region, and Liam Grass added 12.

OXFORD HILLS 51, FRYEBURG 50: The Raiders (4-4) led most of the game, but the Vikings (6-2) pulled out the win as freshman Teigan Pelletier made five consecutive free throws in the final three minutes Saturday.

Sophomore Eli Soehren scored a career-high 22 points for Oxford Hills. Pelletier finished with 15 points.

Fryeburg was led by the 11 points of 6-foot-9 post Will Hallam.
