Construction inside the 93 year old Lewiston Library begins in earnest Friday when crews start renovations of the Biography Room. The library will be closed that day, and every Friday until the expansion project ends in late November or early December, according to director Richard Speer. “Our staff members will be focused on packing books and getting ready for construction crews, Speer said of the library’s closing to the public on Fridays, typically the institution’s least busy day. “This gives us the people power to move boxes around and furniture around.” Speer said the goal for librarians is to stay ahead of the construction schedule, which involves restoring one room at a time in three-to four-week cycles.
