SIDNEY — Maine Arts Academy Theater students will present their fifth annual Ten Minute Play Festival at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, and Thursday, April 8, at Alumni Hall on the MeAA campus.
“This festival gives us the opportunity to become first time playwrights and directors,” said senior theater student Dorothy Anne Giroux-Pare, according to a news release from the academy.
The four original plays consist of: “Conversation of the Dying Stars,” written by Ava House and directed by Dorothy Anne Giroux-Pare; “Spread Wings,” written by Moxie Joncas and directed by Amara Aiken; “Lobster,” written by Evie Mercier and directed by Ezekiel Cunningham; and “3 Days,” written by Dakota LeFebvre and directed by Moxie Joncas.
“It is great to witness the development of student playwrights and artists,” said senior theater student Carina Higgins. “We pride ourselves on being able to support original work.”
The evenings will cover a variety of different genres: comedy, fantasy, and drama. All proceeds support the MeAA Theater Program.
The evenings will consist of four original plays written, directed and performed by MeAA Theater students. The evening also will feature “Spring into Art,” an art sale by MeAA Visual Art students with pieces ranging from jewelry to canvases. Coffee, tea, and snacks will be available for guests and included in the ticket price.
