LEWISTON — A local man died Tuesday after the motorcycle he was riding collided with two SUVs, police said.
The crash was reported at about 5 p.m., Lt. David St. Pierre said.
The 44-year-old man, whose identity was withheld Tuesday pending notification of next of kin, was alive when police arrived on scene, but died either in transport or after arriving at Central Maine Medical Center, St. Pierre said.
The man was riding alone. There were no injuries to any of the occupants of the other vehicles — a Jeep and a Toyota Highlander — St. Pierre said.
The crash happened on Walnut Street between Bartlett and Horton streets.
The accident was being reconstructed by officers at the scene, including a forensic mapper, who took photos and measured distances in an effort to assist in determining what happened at the time of the crash and what caused it. Two detectives assisted the investigating officer.
St. Pierre said the investigation would continue, including review of area surveillance cameras in hopes of finding video footage of the crash site at that time.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call the police station.
