LEWISTON — Police identified Wednesday a local man who died Tuesday when the motorized scooter he was driving collided with two SUVs.
David Glenn, 44, was pronounced dead a short time after the crash, according to a media statement by Lt. David St. Pierre. The crash happened on Walnut Street between Bartlett and Horton streets at about 5 p.m.
Glenn was operating a red 2011 Yamaha 250cc scooter and was wearing a helmet, St. Pierre said.
Glenn had a valid driver’s license, but did not have a motorcycle endorsement as required for a motorcycle or scooter larger than 50cc.

Police responded to the scene to investigate as Glenn was transported to Central Maine Medical Center, St. Pierre said.
A short section of Walnut Street had to be closed to allow officers to reconstruct the accident.
Three vehicles were involved in the accident.
A white 2019 Jeep Compass was driven by Michael Caraway, 47, of Lewiston and a red 2005 Toyota Highlander was driven by Darren Dodson, 55, of Lewiston.
The investigation is continuing, but preliminary findings indicate that Glenn passed through a four-way intersection without stopping before impact, St. Pierre said. His scooter first struck the rear of the Jeep before deflecting into the Toyota Highlander.
There was no outward evidence at the scene that drugs or alcohol played a part in this accident, St. Pierre said.
Glenn’s body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for examination. Both of the other drivers consented to blood being drawn to later be analyzed. They were not injured.
