PARIS — Chloe Estes’ two-out double in the bottom of the sixth scored Kiara McLeod and Miah Gallan to give Oxford Hills the go-ahead lead against Lewiston in the second game of a KVAC softball doubleheader Saturday in Paris.

The Vikings (4-0) won the game 9-5 after winning the opener 13-6.

McLeod and Gallan had two hits in the second game, as did Trinity Bernard and Kaity Montelongo. McLeod also pitched a complete game.

Gemma Landry hit a a two-run home run for Lewiston (2-2), which tied the game 5-5 in the top of the fifth inning. Brooklyn Mynahan pitched for the Blue Devils.

In the first game, Bernard had another two-hit game and drove in three runs. McLeod, Olivia Gallan and Bella DeVivo also had two-hit games. McLeod pitched the first five innings before giving way to Maddy Miller for the final two.

Landry led the Lewiston offense in game one as well, with a double and a single, and she pitched the first five innings before Mynahan took over.

VINALHAVEN SWEEPS RANGELEY: The Lakers opened their season against the Vikings with a doubleheader at Mt. View in Thorndike. Bristol Quimby pitched during an 11-4 loss in the opener, while Winnie LaRochelle toed the rubber in a 20-6 loss in game two.

BASEBALL

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER SWEPT BY LAKE REGION: Jacob Chadbourne hit a walk-off RBI single in Game 1, and the Lakers (3-2) held off a big comeback by the Patriots (1-4) in Game 2 to complete a doubleheader sweep in Naples, winning 9-8 and 11-8.

Home runs by Zach Winchester and Nick Geer helped Gray-New Gloucester take an 8-5 lead in the opener, but Lake Region tied it in the sixth on a two-run double by Mike Chase and won it on Chadbourne’s hit in the seventh.

In Game 2, the Patriots scored seven runs in the fourth after falling behind 8-0, but Matt Aker’s sacrifice fly in the fifth drove home the eventual winning run.

BOYS LACROSSE

ST. DOMINIC 10, LAKE REGION 9, OT: Matt Fletcher scored three goals, including the winner in overtime at Naples, as the visiting Saints got their first win since 2017.

Roman Vitolo recorded two goals and three assists. Devdan Young and Murphy Randall also scored twice and Garrett Kendall got the other goal for St. Dom’s. Lucas Pushard had three assists.

Aaron Thibault stopped 12 shots for the Saints.

GIRLS LACROSSE

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 15, ST. DOMINIC 9: Emma Sharp recorded four goals and an assist as the Panthers (1-1) downed the Saints (0-2) in Yarmouth.

Vy Tran and Lily Weinrich each added three goals, and Lily Jackson scored twice. Alev Yalnez, Natalie Farrell and Camilla Latanzi rounded out the scoring for NYA.

Taryn Cloutier, Jess Zimmerman and Emily Longford scored two goals apiece for St. Dom’s.
