Ryan Adams: “Elements of Development” Towson, MD, November 2020.

BETHEL — The Bethel Mural Project is a community, public art installation to be painted on all four walls of The Gem Theater, 48 Cross St., June 12 through July 1. The mural will be designed by Ryan Adams, a professional artist from Portland. Adams has painted dozens of murals in Maine as well as other states, according to a news release from Bethel Area Arts and Music. He has a background in traditional graffiti which led him into more formal signage and large-scale murals.

As a community-based project, The Bethel Mural Project will need many volunteers to help install the mural. All are encouraged and invited to participate. Social distancing, masks, and scheduling will be required for participation. Adams also will be available for an artist talk and reception, with specific details to be announced.

The mural is made possible with support from The Onion Foundation, Maine Community Foundation, Maine School Administrative District 44, Rotary Club of Bethel, Maine, and private donors.

If you would like to participate with the mural installation, email BAAM Coordinator Kate Webb at coordinator@bethelareaartsandmusic.com.
