Both Lewiston and Edward Little will have two girls players in the state singles tournament later this month.
At the Region Four regional qualifier, Lewiston’s Abby Svor and Julia Svor and Red Eddies Mya Vincent and Molly Vincent won their qualifying matches into the state tournament.
Abby Svor defeated Dirigo’s Karlie-Reyn Carrier 6-1, 6-0, while Julia Svor defeated Oak Hill’s Ariana Thibault 6-0, 6-0. Mya Vincent defeated Lewiston’s Libby Forgue 6-0, 6-1, and Molly Vincent defeated Hall-Dale’s Ella Schaab 6-1, 6-3.
Other qualifiers include: Spruce Mountain’s Hanni Johnson, who defeated Mt. Blue’s Tricia Souther-Bowering 6-0, 6-0; Winthrop’s Hannah Duley, who defeated Mt. Blue’s Haley Walsh 6-4, 6-4; Hall-Dale’s Naomi Lynch, who defeated Mt. Blue’s Kloe Dean 6-0, 6-0; Maranacook’s Paige Rice, who won in three sets over Hall-Dale’s Savannah Millay 1-6, 6-3, 6-1.
In the boys’ Region 4 qualifier, Mt. Blue will have three representatives in the state tournament. Kaden Allen defeated Dirigo’s Jacob Chow 7-5, 6-1. Michael Ferrari defeated Mountain Valley’s Levon Mickeriz 6-0, 6-0. The third Cougar to advance was Ayden Beisaw, who defeated Mountain Valley’s Elijah Weston 6-3, 6-1.
The Cougars had a chance to have five players at the state tournament but St. Dom’s Alex Beaudin defeated Carson Zunde 6-1, 6-1. Edward Little’s Jonah Chen defeated Elijah Graig 6-4, 6-4.
Winthrop will have two players heading to states with Josh Denda-Whaley defeating Lewiston’s Gavin Bavis 6-1, 6-0 and Noah Grube defeating Edward Little’s Simon Hayes 6-3, 6-2.
Dirigo’s Hayden Adams went three sets with Lewiston’s Jason Hall to win 6-0, 2-6, 6-2.
