DAMARISCOTTA — River Arts this week will feature landscape paintings by midcoast artist Ramone Hanley-Warren.
Her solo show, “Studio Work; Drawn to Solace,” opens May 13 and runs until June 2. Created in her home studio, Hanley-Warren’s landscapes draw on the area salt marshes and estuaries for inspiration.
Her education in art included Parsons School of Design, several extended stays in Europe (including an intensive study of art history and painting in Florence), and fine arts studies at State University of New York at Purchase College.
Continuing her artwork with watercolors and plein air painting for many years, Hanley-Warren also created works for Damariscotta Pottery, well known for its colorful Majolica pottery. The shop closed last year, and since then she has been focusing on her paintings.
“I’ve expanded to acrylic, because it allows me to grow on the canvas. Changes occur regularly and color is more vibrant and malleable,” Hanley-Warren said in a news release from River Arts.
River Arts is located at 36 Elm St. Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and closed Sunday and Monday.
