AUBURN — The School Committee on Wednesday night unanimously approved a return-to-school plan for the fall.
The plan developed by the district’s Health and Safety Reentry Steering Committee requires all students to return to school five days a week.
Only students who have “identified, documented” needs or conditions, such as an anxiety disorder, will be allowed to work remotely.
Schools will follow all pandemic guidelines set by the Maine Department of Education and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Those safety guidelines likely will evolve over the summer as more people of all ages are vaccinated. Any changes will be reflected in the reentry plan as they occur.
Students will still be grouped in cohorts to minimize contact, according to the plan. For example, pupils at Fairview Elementary School will go to lunch and recess with other children in their groups, according to Principal Celeste Beaudet.
The School Committee approved the plan, which was first presented May 19, without discussion.
