AUBURN — Central Maine Community College will offer a variety of options for instruction in the fall, with a full return to on-campus housing and athletics.
The college will offer in-person, remote and hybrid, a mix of in-person and remote instruction, interim Dean of Academic Affairs Margaret Brewer said in a recent phone interview.
“In any given semester, we always have online, remote and hybrid,” she said, “so this will be similar to a normal blend.”
She added, “There will be something for everyone. We realize not everyone will be comfortable with coming back.”
Most classes were held online over the past school year because of social distancing guidelines during the pandemic, she said.
Some guidelines are still in place at the college, she said.
“As of today, we require face coverings for employees, unless they have vaccination cards. Then they are exempt,” she said.
Vaccines are required for athletes and on-campus residents, Brewer said, but that hasn’t been determined for others. The school is working on a process for that.
“It’s all very much up in the air,” she said. “It’s all about getting students back on campus. I think they missed being on campus with other students and participating in athletics.”
To that end, the school will hold an open house from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, for anyone interested in enrolling and for those already accepted, she said.
Campus tours also are available by signing up online or calling Central Maine Community College at 755-5273.
