State biologists seek volunteers to help them better understand the white-tailed deer population.
To become a citizen scientist for the Maine Deer Spy project, people can document deer sightings between Aug. 1 and Sept. 30. They can submit the time, date, location and the number of does (adult female deer with no antlers), bucks (deer with anters), and/or fawns (young deer), at mefishwildlife.com/deerspy.
Volunteers are needed across the state, and everyone can participate.
