The Edward Little High School class of 1951 plans to hold its 70-year reunion Sunday, Aug. 29, at Lost Valley, 200 Lost Valley Road in Auburn.
The 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. event is to include the latest information on the new high school campus due to open in September 2023. Expected guests are E.L.H.S. Music Director William Buzza and Auburn School Board Committee member Pamela Hart.
The Donald M. Gay Scholarship Foundation, created by the E.L. Class of 1951, has awarded more than $100,000 in annual scholarships to individual seniors who have made outstanding contributions to the arts during their high school careers. The current Don Gay scholar is Jameson Treadwill, who will receive a $10,000 scholarship following completion of his freshman year at the University of Maine, Orono.
Reunion chairperson Barbara Hurley Bouchard — and her committee of Jack and Nancy Bartley, Bob Gardner, Shirley Bubier Hatch and Ralph Woody Hodgkins, co-chair of the Don Gay Foundation trustees — have dealt with the challenges of reaching alums scattered across the country 70 years since high school days. About 50 attendees are expected.
In addition to updates on the new $100 million-plus high school by Buzza and Hart, a reunion committee for the 75-year reunion must vote to confirm the Don Gay Foundation trustees for the next five years.
A full dinner, buffet-style, will be served with options for fish, chicken or beef. The meal, recognized as the Deal of the Day, is to cost just $10. Offsetting funds are available thanks to the monthly class luncheons founded more than 20 years ago by the late W. Victor Gould, a former member of both the reunion and foundation committees.
