To the Editor:
On behalf of the Rotary Club of Bethel, we would like to thank everyone who came and shopped at our Annual Yard sale and also those who kindly donated treasures to the sale! A huge thanks to the efforts of the members and friends of Rotary who picked items up, transported many loads from storage facilities to the site, helped customers over the course of the seven days, and finally all those that set up and cleaned up the site.
Most members of our club assisted in some important way! Additional thanks to Mike & Eva Zioli and the Hastings Farm family for providing needed storage for the donated items we accumulated over the course of the year, and to the Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce for the tents. We were successful in raising funds enough to ensure scholarships for graduating high school seniors in the Spring of 2022.
Another important Rotary event is coming right up – the Bethel Rotary 5K and 1-mile event, sponsored by the Bethel Family Health Center on Sunday, September 19th. A Virtual option is available to anyone who would like to participate in either the 5K run or 1-mile run/walk (ages 12 and under) on the course of their choice between the dates of Friday, September 10 and Sunday, September 19. The first 100 registrants receive a commemorative drawstring backpack! Online registration is required by going to www.runreg.com/bethel-rotary-5K.
All participants 18 and under may register for free and for those over 18, it’s $15. Once you complete the distance, please e-mail your name, age, mailing address, and time to info@bethelrotary.org so we can send you your backpack and recognize you in the post-event PR. We hope to see lots of people out at the live event on Sept 19 enjoying healthy exercise and support the 6th Annual Bethel Rotary 5K! The proceeds are directed to supporting after-school and enrichment activities for children in the SAD 44 area. Please register early to receive a cool backpack!
Brand new this year is the Mahoosuc Art & Agriculture Tour on Sunday, September 12 from 1-4 p.m. The tour is a series of open houses, each hosted by a local farm to showcase their products. Each farm will be hosting local artists who will be selling their work and doing demonstrations. Maps, which will serve as tickets, are for sale online for $20 per car. The link to purchase is https://go.rotary7780gives.org/maat/Campaign/Details. This event is being held in partnership with Bethel Area Arts & Music, The Local Food Connection, Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce and The Mahoosuc Way: Pledge to Embrace our Place. Bethel Rotary hopes everyone turns out to enjoy this lovely new event!
