The Red Eddies take to the road against a Class B school after opening the season against possibly the state’s best team last week, Bonny Eagle. The Eagles narrowly lost to Noble in their season opener.

The Patriots played close in a loss to Lake Region last week, while the Hawks were shut out against Old Orchard Beach. Gray-NG’s lone win two years ago came on the road in Week 2 last year, so maybe history will repeat itself for the Patriots.

Lisbon (0-1) at Madison/Carrabec/Valley (0-1)
Friday, 7 p.m.
The Greyhounds will be looking for their first win of the season after opening with a road loss at Foxcroft. They’ll face a Bulldogs team that was shut out against Freeport last week.

Mountain Valley (0-0) at Mt. Ararat/Hyde (1-0)
Friday, 7:30 p.m.
The Falcons finally get to play their first regular-season eight-man football game after last week’s game was canceled. Their debut, however, is against the inaugural eight-man state champs from two years ago, an Eagles team that last week routed Spruce Mountain.

Poland (0-0) at Bucksport (0-1)
Friday, 7 p.m.
The Knights were given the Class D bye in Week 1, and will open their season on the road against the 2019 state runners-up. The Golden Bucks will be looking to rebound after opening the season with a loss at Winthrop/Monmouth/Hall-Dale.

Sanford (0-1) at Oxford Hills (1-0)
Friday, 7 p.m.
The Vikings looked good in their season-opening win against Lewiston, while the Spartans lost big against powerhouse Thornton Academy. Oxford Hills coach Mark Soehren cautioned that Sanford is a different style opponent than Lewiston, so his team will have to be ready.

Spruce Mountain (0-1) at Dirigo (0-1)
Friday, 7 p.m.
Both teams will be looking for their first regular-season victories in eight-man football. The Cougars are still looking for their first points after getting shut out by Boothbay last week.

Saturday, 1:30 p.m.
Both teams had solid starts to their seasons last week, especially the Rebels in a 62-6 road victory at Traip. Telstar was able to both run and pass effectively in the win.

Foxcroft Academy (1-0) at Oak Hill (0-0)
Saturday, 1:30 p.m.
The Raiders are another team that had to wait an extra week to play its first game because an opponent had COVID-19 issues. They’ll host a Ponies team that opened with a win against Oak Hill’s rival, Lisbon.

Saturday, 7 p.m. (at Hampden Academy)
The Blue Devils should welcome back starting running back Eli Bigelow, and they finally have a normal week of practice under their belts after COVID threw a wrench into their preseason and Week 1 preparations. But they travel to face a Rams team that just routed rival Brewer in their season opener.
