MINOT — State and federal investigators are expected to wrap up their work Tuesday in an effort to determine the cause of a weekend fire that destroyed the Village Trading Post in West Minot village.
Members of the state Fire Marshal’s Office and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were at the scene Monday.
The fire Saturday swept through the building, which contained a store, a post office and an upstairs apartment. Firefighters continued to battle hot spots through the weekend. Two people who lived in an apartment above the business were not hurt. The fire eliminated access to the post office, requiring mail to be taken to the town’s main post office on Route 121.
