LEWISTON — The School Committee voted 8-0 Monday to terminate former Director of Special Education Pamela Boucher, following a three-hour executive session.
The committee moved to fire her for “reasons described in written findings prepared by the School Committee,” according to the motion read by board member Tanya Whitlow.
Earlier on Monday, an attorney representing Boucher filed a lawsuit against Lewiston Public Schools in U.S. District Court alleging wrongful termination.
According to the lawsuit, Boucher received an email from Superintendent Jake Langlais following an in-person discussion on Aug. 19 informing her that she could choose to resign or have her employment terminated on Aug. 21. She is demanding to be paid the remaining wages in full for the period specified in her employment contract, which would have expired June 30, 2023.
The committee entered two other executive sessions during the meeting to discuss an issue related to collective bargaining and a legal matter. No other votes were taken.
