To the Editor:

You may have heard of SeniorsPlus in the context of Meals on Wheels or of us being the Area Agency on Aging for Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford Counties, but did you know we offer workshops for adult Mainers of all ages? Through our partnership with Healthy Living for ME, SeniorsPlus offers programming that can help Mainers improve and manage their health. This fall, we have two virtual workshops available at no cost to the participants – Living Well with Chronic Pain and Living Well with Diabetes.

If you’re dealing with a persistent pain condition like arthritis, headaches, or back pain, you’re not alone – the CDC reports that one in five Americans deals with chronic pain. Diabetes is also prevalent – nearly one in five Mainers have either diabetes or pre-diabetes. These issues can affect a person’s overall quality of life along with their health.

In our workshops, you’ll find a supportive group of people who can relate to what you’re going through, as well as leaders who are committed to helping all participants address their unique situations and improve their overall quality of life.

If you’d like to make positive strides for your health and wellbeing this fall, I encourage you to sign up for one of these workshops. The diabetes workshop begins on October 12 and the pain workshop begins on November 3.

To learn more or to register for these workshops, visit www.healthylivingforme.org, email info@healthylivingforme.org, call us at SeniorsPlus at 795-4010, or me directly at 440-2390.
