(from a Journal photo) An Art Auction will be held at the Lewiston-Auburn Jewish Community Center, 134 College Street, Lewiston on Saturday evening, Nov. 13 at eight o’clock. Mrs. Harold Miller and Mrs. Allen I. Miller, chairmen and co chairmen of the auction committee, are photographed with one of the paintings which will be put on the auction block. The public is invited to come early and view the exhibit prior to the auction. A sherry hour will open at seven o’clock. The auction will continue through the evening to accommodate patrons arriving late. On exhibit will be paintings, oils and watercolors, modern and old etchings, lithographs, originals and limited editions. Names represented include Renoir, Rubin, Braqua, Degas, Vlaminck, Chagall, Miro, Dali, Meisel, Matisse, Picasso, and D’Anty. Proceeds will benefit the Center.
25 Years Ago: 1996
The Kungu Society of New York will give a traditional Chinese opera demonstration and performance Saturday at Bates College. The performance will be in the Olin Arts Center Hall at 7 pm. Tickets are $3 for general admission.
