BETHEL — On Monday, November 15, the Bethel Selectman held an emergency meeting with regard to the purchasing of a new boiler for the Bethel Citizen, which is in leased property owned by the town. The boiler now has one pipe going in and one pipe coming out. The installation would cost $12,062.
The Town of Bethel has $50,000 in the coal block building account, according to Town Manager Loretta Powers. Allegedly that was a good price as different heaters cost much more because they have less parts missing, and because everything is in such high demand at the moment. The alternative method would cost over $10,000 and that time frame is much longer. Selectwoman Lori T. Swain motioned to approved a new boiler and everyone agreed.
