CAMDEN — Eva Marie Thornton and Daniel Arthur Boyd were married atop Mount Battie, in Camden, Maine, on August 2, 2021. The couple’s beloved dog, Basil, served as ring bearer and performed her duties perfectly as Eva and Dan committed their love and lives to each other.
The bride carried a bouquet of flowers grown on local farms, arranged by her forever friend, Kelsea Kuvaja. A festive picnic on the grounds of Camden Hills State Park followed the ceremony. Smiles, stunning scenery, sunshine, and lots of love made the day memorable for all, as did the great food crafted by the groom and his chef friends.
Eva, 30, grew up in Bethel, and Dan 33, is from Groton Massachusetts. Sharing in their special day were Eva’s parents Pat Nasta and Jim Thornton of Bethel and her bothers Louis and Casey of Biddeford; Dan’s parents, Denise Cucchi-Boyd and Kevin Boyd and siblings Chris and Nicole of Groton; and a small group of close friends, including eight tail-wagging doggie friends.
Adding to the couple’s happiness were longtime childhood friends from the Bethel area: Kelsea Kuvaja, James Kimball, Deegan Conrad, and Natalie Brown. Not attending but present in spirit were the couple’s grandparents, Nazareno and Annette Cucchi of Florida; and present in loving memory, the late Arthur and Phyllis Boyd; and the late Anthony and Patricia Nastaand present in loving memory, the late Arthur and Phyllis Boyd; and the late Anthony and Patricia Nasta; and the late Joan and James Thornton.
After leaving Telstar High School, Eva earned a degree in Studio Arts from Bard College of Simon’s Rock in Great Barrington, MA, and is currently pursuing an MBA in Sustainability at the University of Southern Maine. Dan earned a degree in Psychology from Middlesex Community College in Lowell, MA, while building a career in the culinary arts. In recent years Dan served as Executive Chef at the Higgins Beach Inn in Scarborough and will lend his skills in the new Steam Mill Brewing kitchen in Bethel this winter.
The couple honeymooned in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Eva, Dan, and Basil currently live in Portland, Maine.
