LEWISTON — Colby scored 50 points in the second half to come from behind to beat the Bobcats 78-72 in a non-conference men’s basketball game between NESCAC rivals Friday night.
Matt Hanna scored 28 points, including 18 in the second half for the Mules (5-2). Noah Tyson chipped in 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals, while Will King added 14 points for Colby.
Stephon Baxter scored 23 points for the Bobcats (3-3). Omar Sarr added 13 points and 19 rebounds, while Jahmir Primer had 10 points.
WOMEN’S HOCKEY
BOSTON COLLEGE 4, MAINE 3, OT: Hannah Bilka scored 27 seconds into overtime as the Boston College women’s hockey team beat the University of Maine in a Women’s Hockey East game in Orono.
Ali Beltz scored her second goal of the game 14:07 into the third period to tie the game for UMaine (6-11-1, 4-6-1).
Boston College (9-7, 7-4) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Alexie Guay and Bilka. Maine tied it when Beltz scored in the first and Morgan Trimper scored in the second. Carolina Goffredo gave Boston College the lead back in the third period.
Abigail Levy had 24 saves for the Eagles, while Loryn Porter had 33 for the Black Bears.
NORWICH 3, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Mikah Baptiste had a goal and an assist as the Cadets (5-2-0, 5-0-0 LEC) beat the Huskies (5-5-0, 4-3-0) in Gorham.
Baptiste scored 46 seconds into the first period for Norwich. Julia Masotta added a goal in the second and Jillian Jackson scored in the third period. Goalie Alexa Berg stopped 12 shots.
Julianne Nelson scored from Jess MacLean and Maddy Young for USM. Haley McKim had 42 saves.
COLBY 2, BOWDOIN 1: Meg Rittenhouse scored early in the second period as the Mules (4-0, 3-0 NESCAC) beat the Polar Bears (2-3, 0-3) in Brunswick.
Sadie Kuhn scored on a power play in the first period to give Colby a 1-0 lead. Ally Thanassi scored with less than two minutes left in the first to tie it.
Dani Marquez made 28 saves for Bowdoin and Nina Prunster finished with 23 for Colby.
UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 3, WESTERN NEW ENGLAND 1: The Nor’easters (3-6, 3-4 CCC) scored in each period on their way to a win over the Golden Bears (3-4-1, 1-4) in West Springfield, Massachusetts.
McKenna Remillard, Maeve Crehan and Avery Lutrzykowski each had a goal for UNE. Delanie Corcoran saved 32 shots.
Alyssa Murphy scored on a power play for Western New England. Rieley Jessie-Gerelli had 36 saves.
MEN’S HOCKEY
UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 5, WESTERN NEW ENGLAND 3: The Nor’easters (5-1) closed the game with three third-period goals to pull away and beat the Golden Bears (4-5) in Biddeford.
UNE took the lead when Tyler Seltenrich scored his second goal of the game 9:44 into the third period. Daniel Winslow made it 4-2 just over three minutes later and Ryan Kuzmich added an insurance goal with 1:42 left.
Jared Christy also scored and James Corcoran had 15 saves for the Nor’easters.
Lliam Christiano, Kyle Knight and Sam Mitchell each scored for Western New England. Anthony Aureliano recorded 37 saves in goal.
NORWICH 5, SOUTHERN MAINE 0: Clark Kerner had two goals as the Cadets (5-0-3, 2-0-3 LEC) shut out the Huskies (2-5-1, 2-3-1) in Northfield, Vermont.
Philip Elgstam, Joe Nagle and Brent Rickett also scored for Norwich. Devon Becker added two assists and Drennan Atherton had 16 saves in goal.
USM goalies Anthony D’Aloisio and Mason Palmer combined for 34 saves.
