LEWISTON — The Bates College women’s basketball team continued its hot start to the season with a 79-45 win over Clark on Saturday.
Morgan Kennedy scored 20 points and Davina Kabantu added 12 as the Bobcats (6-1), coming off a win over nationally ranked Bowdoin on Wednesday, routed the Cougars (5-4) for their fourth straight victory. Ariana Dalia added 10 points and Brianna Gadaleta scored nine in the win.
Hannah Favaloro led Clark with 15 points.
UMF 72, NVL 62: Page Brown paced UMaine-Farmington with 24 points in its victory over Northern Vermont-Lyndon in Farmington.
McKenna Brodeur added 18 points and Alex Bessey scored 16 points for the Beavers (6-2, 1-0).
Lea Crompton scored a team-high 18 points for the Hornets (3-2, 0-1).
DREXEL 57, MAINE 33: The Black Bears (2-6) made only 13 field goals in a loss to the Dragons (6-2) in Bangor.
Anne Simon scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Maeve Carroll had eight points and 12 boards for UMaine, which shot 24 percent from the field (13 of 54).
Drexel’s Keishana Washington led all scorers with 25 points, and Tessa Brugler added 16.
SOUTHERN MAINE 59, KEENE STATE 43: Michelle Rowe had 24 points and seven rebounds, and caused three turnovers to lead the Huskies (1-6) past the Owls (3-4) at Keene, New Hampshire.
Amy Fleming scored nine points, and Lewiston graduate Victoria Harris added eight points and six rebounds.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
UMF 129, NVL 76: Zach Brown led eight Beavers (5-1, 1-0) who scored in double figures in a 53-point win over the Hornets (1-6, 0-1) in Farmington.
Brown finished with 21 points. Terion Moss and Kyle Donlin added 14 apiece for UMaine-Farmington, Jack Kane scored 13, Drew Storey and Will Harriman each had 12, Zach Maturo finished with 11 and Nathan Poulin scored 10.
Antonio Carlisle scored 24 points on 11 of 16 shooting for Northern Vermont-Lyndon.
COLUMBIA 77, MAINE 66: Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa tied his career best with 24 points as the Lions (3-6) defeated the Black Bears (2-5) in New York.
Patrick Harding had 15 points and 17 rebounds as Columbia broke a four-game losing streak. Liam Murphy added 12 points, and Eddie Turner III had six assists.
Vukasin Masic paced Maine 15 points. Maks Klanjscek scored 11 points and LeChaun DuHart had 10.
WOMEN’S HOCKEY
BOSTON COLLEGE 2, MAINE 1: Kelly Browne’s goal 2:18 into overtime gave the Eagles (10-7-1, 8-4-0 Hockey East) a win over the Black Bears (6-12-1, 4-7-1) at Orono.
Alyssa Wruble scored for Maine, assisted by Kennedy Little and Mira Seregely. Loryn Porter made 25 saves for the Black Bears.
MEN’S HOCKEY
BLACK BEARS LOSE SHOOTOUT: Maine’s Donavan Villeneuve-Houle scored the tying goal late in the second period as the Black Bears played to a 1-1 tie against Vermont in a Hockey East game in Orono.
Dovar Tinling scored in the first period and Gabe Carrier made 50 saves for Vermont (3-9-2, 2-4-2), which picked up an extra point in the Hockey East standings by winning a shootout.
Maine goalie Matthew Thiessen had 16 saves.
