PORTLAND — Bishop Robert Deeley has announced the winners of the Diocese of Portland’s Christmas Card Art Contest, conducted by the diocese’s Office of Development (winning artwork, captions below/larger size images available).
All Catholic school and faith formation students throughout the diocese were invited to participate in the contest. Each submission featured original creations by the artists, reflecting a passage from Scripture.
The winners’ creations will appear this month on the Christmas cards that will be sent to 2021 Catholic Appeal donors. The winners will also receive a special gift blessed by Deeley. The contest winners are:
• Kindergarten-Grade 2 — Charlie Assia of Holy Cross School in South Portland;
• Grades 3-5 — Bella Isnardi of St. John Catholic School in Brunswick;
• Grades 6-8 — Rylan Parker of St. Michael School in Augusta; and
• Grades 9-12 — Greta Grant of St. Joseph Parish in Bridgton.
The contest has received hundreds of entries since its inception in 2017.
