JAY — As of Thursday afternoon, eight residents had put their names in to be appointed to fill a vacant term on the Regional School Unit 73 Board of Directors.
Former Director Michael Morrell resigned from the board in November.
The Select Board have the authority to appoint a resident to fill a mid-term vacancy on the board until the next election. In this case, it is scheduled for the next annual Town Meeting on April 26.
Selectpersons will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at Town Office. They agreed last month that residents could call the Town Office to submit their name if they’re interested in the position. The deadline for those submissions is 4 p.m. Friday.
If there were multiple people interested, they would put the names in a hat and be drawn, Chairman Terry Bergeron said on Nov. 22.
People expressing interest as of Thursday are Ronald Guay, Pamela Rangel, Elizabeth Marquis, Esther Nolin, Chantelle Woodcock, Brandi Galgano, Brianna Simeon-DelCampo and Taylor Guay.
