I want to express thanks to Dr. Nirav Shah, Gov. Janet Mills, and Department of Health and Human Services Commissioner Jeanne Lambrew. You can’t please all of the people all of the time. You can, however, make decisions and take actions in the best interest of people in general — actions that have positive results. Dr. Shah, Gov. Mills, and Commissioner Lambrew have taken those actions here in Maine throughout the pandemic.Communication has been clear and frequent. Updated information about COVID-19 has been provided, for example, through current websites, frequent news briefings and an information hotline. Support to Maine people has been delivered through a variety of sources.COVID vaccination was rolled out in a timely and efficient manner and, though that effort is 11 months in duration now, it has not lost momentum. Vaccination has been provided through multiple avenues, reflecting the varied needs of Mainers, to every person who has wanted it. The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention has provided ongoing education about COVID vaccination to encourage those who are hesitant. This thankful Mainer wishes to express deep gratitude to Dr. Shah, Gov. Mills, and Commissioner Lambrew for their leadership, and to the multitudes of employees with whom they work, for their ongoing efforts on our behalf.
