SALEM — Jace Bessey scored 11 of his game-high 22 points in a third quarter that saw Spruce Mountain turn a one-point deficit into a 12-point lead on their way to a 52-42 MVC boys basketball win over Mt. Abram on Friday.
Elie Timler added 10 points for the Phoenix (2-0).
Payton Mitchell and Kaden Pillsbury scored 10 points apiece for the Roadrunners (1-3).
LISBON 86, TELSTAR 26: Chase Mailhot led the Greyhounds (2-0) with 17 points in the win over the Rebels (0-4).
Four other Lisbon players finished in double-digits. Levi Tibbets had 15 points and Caden Boone had 12 points while Nick Ferrance and Mason Booker each had 10 points.
Brayden Stevens had nine points for Telstar.
CARRABEC 59, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 41: Luke Carey had 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Cobras to the MVC win in North Anson.
Joel Gehrke added 11 points for Carrabec (2-1) while Elijah Canales added nine.
Mountain Valley (1-2) was led by Zach New with 19 points and Airick Richard with 11.
DIRIGO 88, HALL-DALE 25: Dakota Tompkins dropped in 27 of his game-high 31 points in the first half for the Cougars (2-1) in a win over the Bulldogs (1-2) in Dixfield.
Trenton Hutchinson added 15 points for Dirigo and Logan Timberlake had 12. The Cougars made nine 3-pointers.
Ben Nathan scored eight points for Hall-Dale.
CONY 66, MT. BLUE 45: Luke Briggs scored 23 points and had five assists, and the Rams rallied back from a 12-point second quarter deficit to earn the win in Augusta.
Parker Sergent had 14 points for Cony (3-0), which trailed 18-6 with five minutes to go in the second, while Kam Douin had 11 points and eight rebounds.
Evans Sterling scored 26 points to lead Mt. Blue (1-2), which was hurt by 37 turnovers, while Chandler Briggs scored 13.
OAK HILL 55, MADISON 52: Oak Hill rallied from an eight-point deficit to start the fourth quarter to earn a 55-52 win over Madison in a Mountain Valley Conference boys basketball game in Madison.
The Raiders trailed 44-36 to start the final period. Ramon Spearman and Ethan Vattaso each scored 13 points to lead the Oak Hill (2-1) offense while D’andre Daniels added 11.
Madison (1-2) was led by Callan Franzose with 25 points and nine rebounds and Thomas Dean with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
POLAND 65, WELLS 60: Hunter Gibson scored 23 points and the Knights (2-1) made 11 3-pointers in a win over the Warriors (1-2) at Poland.
Hayden Christener finished with 17 points, including five 3-pointers, and Shane Yorkey had three 3-pointers and a field goal for 11 points.
Devin Brown led Wells with 22 points, including three 3-pointers. Brayden Fazzina scored 14 points.
OXFORD HILLS 80, WINDHAM 71: Teigan Pelletier led the Vikings (2-1) with 25 points in a win over the Eagles (1-2) in Paris.
Colby Dillingham had 23 points in the victory.
Nick Garrison led Windham with 19 points, Matthew Fox had 16 points and Will Mannette scored 13.
GREELY 62, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 57: Dee Martin Coyne had 18 points to lead the Rangers (3-0) to a WMC rivalry win over the Patriots (1-2) in Gray.
Andrew St. Hilaire chipped in with 13 points while Timothy Walker and Seamus Raftice had 11 points each.
Maxwell Kenney and Terrell Claxton each had 12 points for Gray-New Gloucester while Joshua Michaud had 10 points.
LEAVITT 43, MT. ARARAT 33: Sawyer Hathaway scored six of his eight points in the first quarter to get the Hornets (2-1) going early and Ben Sirois poured in 11 of his game-high 13 in the fourth quarter to seal the KVAC victory over the Eagles (0-3) in Turner.
Hunter Hayes stuffed the stat sheet with five points, 11 rebounds and four steals for Leavitt.
Ty Henke paced Mt. Ararat with nine points, while Carson Taylor and Brandon Emerson scored eight.
MONMOUTH ACADEMY 67, BUCKFIELD 18: Gavin Willett led the Mustangs (3-0) with 20 points in a win over the Bucks (0-3) in Buckfield.
Hayden Fletcher, Manny Calder and Hunter Frost each had 10 points in the win.
Ayden Jefferson led Buckfield with five points, with Jaiden Jack and Ty White each scoring four points.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
WELLS 76, POLAND 20: Grace Ramsdell scored 28 points as the Warriors (3-0) handled the Knights (1-2) in Wells.
Wells built a 23-3 lead after one quarter, paced by Ramsdell’s 12 points.
Maren Maxon finished with 11 points for Wells.
Gabbi Bolduc led Poland with eight points.
OXFORD HILLS 50, WINDHAM 44: Sierra Carson led the Vikings (3-0) with 15 points in a win over the Eagles (1-2) at Windham.
Molly Corbett chipped in with 14 points.
Sarah Talon paced Windham with 16 points. Liz Levesque added 10.
MT. ARARAT 34, LEAVITT 19: Morgan Ruff, Elsa Daulerio and Kennedy Lampert each scored eight points to lead the Eagles (3-0) past the Hornets (1-2) in Topsham.
Mt. Ararat held Leavitt to three points in the first half. Caitlyn McCoy scored all 12 of her points for the Hornets after halftime, draining four 3-pointers.
CONY 66, MT. BLUE 38: Indiya Clarke scored a game-high 16 points to pace the Rams (2-1) past the Cougars (1-2) in Augusta.
Abby Morrill added 11 points and Sage Fortin 10 for Cony.
Eva Stevens led Mt. Blue with 12 points, while Aislin Reynolds, Jordan Dunham, Kara Daggett and Caitlin Burke each added six.
BOYS HOCKEY
LAKE REGION/FRYEBURG/OXFORD HILLS 7, SCARBOROUGH 5: Owen Galligan scored five goals to lead the Ice Cats (2-1) to a victory against the Red Storm (2-1) at USM Ice Arena in Gorham.
Wyatt Knightly and Kadan Neureuther each scored for Lake Region/Fryeburg/Oxford Hills. Caleb Micklon had three assists. Noah Grant made 30 saves in the victory.
Sam Rumelhart had two goals and two assists for Scarborough, while Will Fallona, Jordan Sheppard and Olin Pederson each scored a goal. Chris Lafferty stopped eight shots in the loss.
