To the Editor:
Maine should disregard inspection stickers for multiple reasons. The first reason is that Maine is one out of 15 states that requires an inspection every year; which in total, costs $14 million each year in fees and a huge amount of time wasted.
In addition, in the years 2015 through 2019, the Maine Department of Transportation says there were 3% of accidents caused only by vehicle issues.
Considering these reasons, I would like to propose bringing back the vote to take away Maine inspection. People with low incomes trying to make a living off of nothing need a running car to get from place to place. But I can’t stress enough how hard it is to keep a car in running condition that the state requires to be on the road legally.
Let’s make the people vote.
