Pauline Bourgoin got on her knees and started thumbing through a recently discovered box of scrapbooks and pictures at the YMCA. “I’ve got to be in here somewhere,” she said as she scanned a 1950s photo of about two dozen young girls lining the Y’s swimming pool. Bourgoin is herself a walking history of the club, having been a member since 1947 having taught art classes there for the last 46 years. As she shuffled through the pictures, she quickly recalled the names of the adults who ran the club during her childhood. Like Bourgoin, anyone who visited the Y regularly or participated in its activities would surely have memories jogged by the memorabilia, some of which date back to when the club opened its doors in Auburn in 1922. Officials at the Y said they knew that they had some memorabilia hidden deep in the bowels of the club at 62 Turner St.
