100 Years Ago: 1922

The Parent-Teacher Association will give a whist party for the benefit of the Jordan High School Library on Friday evening Jan.19 at the High School assembly hall at 3 o’clock. The committee includes Mrs. Irving E. Pendleton, chairman, Mrs. E.V. Call and Mrs. Charles Bickford. A large party is planned. Many have accepted invitations to play and both plain and auction games will be played. There will be refreshments and specially attractive prizes. If any wish to attend Mrs. Pendleton will be glad to receive their names. The needs of the high school library are great and urgent. The books are old and there have been no additions or renewals for a few years.

50 Years Ago: 1972

Mrs. Dorothy Dunton will address the Mu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma at a meeting at the Lake Street School. Auburn. Her topic is entitled The Responsibilities of Women in a Changing World. Officers of Alpha PSI State Chapter will be guests. Chairman of the evening will be Audrey Gould and her assisting hostesses, Janice Fernald, Marjorie Dyer, Pauline O’Hara, Grace Keene and Libby Goldman.

25 Years Ago: 1997

Area residents are invited to a preview of “Taller than Truth: Tales of Paul Bunyan and Other Big Folks.” on Friday at 7pm in the auditorium at the Niles Memorial Library in North Jay. This new musical, written by Mitch Thomas and Judy Walker, will be performed in Jay on June 20, 21 and 22. On Friday, Mitch and Judy will sing the show’s songs and share excerpts from the script. There will be no admission charge.
