To the Editor:
I’ve been fantasizing about winning the lottery for at least 25 years. And for 25 years I planned what I would do with the broken-down building and barn I’d pass on the left on the way into town. Well, thank goodness I haven’t won the lottery yet because I know something better is coming than I ever could have done with all the money in the world.
On Saturday, January 8, 2022, I attended a presentation held by the Lake Association of Norway about the very property I’d been dreaming about all these years. I am so excited about the plans, I can’t wait to see it start. I’ll be able to walk along the lakefront? I’ll be able to have a picnic on the lake without watching the traffic go by? I’ll be able to enjoy a beer made in Norway! As much as I love Deertrees Theatre, won’t it be lovely to have dinner out and see a show without leaving home?
You mean I can have all my nieces and nephews visit and have access to a kayak for each of them? And my daughter might be able to fantasize about having a wedding somewhere a lot prettier than a barn? And all of it is open to the public; open to families who forgot to buy a house on the lake? The answer to all these questions is YES! It’s for Mainers, and for Norway families above all.
What makes this even more impressive is that by developing this property, it will be more eco-friendly than leaving it alone. The plans have all kinds of engineering wonders. I don’t claim to understand it all, but they have prepared for everything from drainage to light and sound. If this isn’t a win-win, I don’t know what is.
